Elation's Concert Schedule for 2010

The 2010 "new look" Elation Choir is developing a rich, pure sound and great dynamic artistry. The Choir contributed to the Kew Choral Festival in Sacred Heart Kew on Thursday 18th March, and sang again on Friday 26th March. This time in the Melba Hall, Parkville and with the Grainger Wind Symphonic Band.

Elation's next presentation was a Pleasant Sunday Afternoon Concert in St Columba's Balwyn on Sunday 6th June. This concert had a "green theme" for St Columba AND a greener world. There was even some Sacred Dance too.

Our Spring Concert is on Saturday 11th September at 2:30pm in the Collins Street Assembly Rooms in the Melbourne CBD.  Tickets are $20 each and are available at the door.

In accordance with our "Green" theme this year, Elation has added many new songs to our repertoire. We have been featuring songs about trees and the beauty of the planet upon which we live. These include Handel's "Where'er You Walk, Vaughan Williams' "Linden Lea" and the Mozart "Spring Song" from Bastien and Bastienne written when he was 12 years old!

We have also developed a sequence of songs on the Rose theme including Elgar's "Like to the Damask Rose" and Laurendsen's "Dirait-on" to name but two.

Of course a Green theme has to include music from Old Ireland and we've set many toe a-tapping to "Follow me down to Carlow" and "When Irish Eyes are Smiling".

For our next concert on Saturday 11th September, we shall be adding three of the Brahms "Four Songs" with piano and two French Horns to accompany them. To honour the day we will also be singing "In Flanders' Fields" - a huge sideways leap but nevertheless a very beautiful song to honour those who die a violent death.

John Rutter's "For the Beauty of the Earth" and Faure's "Cantique de Jean Racine" will complete the program. We do hope you'll join us. Click here to view the Concert Flyer.

And finally, our Christmas Concert will be on Sunday 12th December.

More details to come later. Happy 2010!
